With kitten season still in full swing, area animal shelters have reached “cat capacity” and are offering special rates to encourage people to adopt.

Cat Adoption Team Adoptathon: Now through Aug. 14, CAT offers adult cats for $25 and kittens for $50. Adopt at the Sherwood shelter or one of the off-site adoption centers. Adoption includes spay/neuter surgery, veterinary exam, FIV/feline leukemia testing and more. See adoptable cats here.

Cat Adoption Team:14175 SW Galbreath Drive, Sherwood; 503-925-8903. Hours: 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Adoptions end 30 minutes prior to closing.

Multnomah County Animal Services: The Troutdale shelter is stretched to capacity and asks the public’s help in adopting cats or kittens to free up more space. Adoption fee: $12 for cats one year and older and $50 for kittens between six and 11 months old; fee for non-county residents is $50 for cats six months and older. Kittens under six months old are $100 for all adopters.

Fees include the services of spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, the cat’s first set of required shots, a health exam, a license and virus tests for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency.
