The Valley Humane Society has raised $175,000 since it announced its dire financial situation last week, but it is taking that news with tempered optimism.
Despite the money raised, the shelter is still limited on the numbers of animals it can take in and faces a murky financial future, said Melanie Sadek, Valley Humane Society’s executive director.
“Even at $175,000, there is a lot of fundraising left,” she said. “Everybody is saying everything is OK, but the campaign is not over. Even at this point, I am still having to look at operation expenses.”
