HSSM to attempt to set world record during Adopt-a-Thon – SunHerald.com

The Humane Society of South Mississippi will attempt to set a Guinness world record for the most sheltered animals adopted within a 24-hour period from 10 a.m. Aug. 6 to 9:59 a.m. Aug. 7.

HSSM has set a goal to have 300 animals adopted during the 24-hour Adopt-A-Thon and will offer several adoption specials and incentives, including all-day specials, such as 25 percent off dog adoption fees; Pick Your Purr-ice for cat adoptions; an Early Bird Special with free adoptions for the first 10 people who arrive to adopt at 10 a.m.; 2-4-1 from 1-2-4, or adopt two cats for the price of one, between 1 and 4 (a.m. and p.m.); Blackout Special, with all black animals available for a donation in lieu of an adoption fee from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.; and Midnight Madness. From midnight to 4 a.m., The first adopters after midnight will enjoy free adoptions, adoption fees waived on all adoptions with donations requested in lieu of adoption fee, and all purchases at the BowWow Meow Boutique will be 25 percent off.
