We had owned Schipperke dogs for a number of years, and we had lost the last one, Misty, in August 2009 to lymphoma. We were dogless for the first time in 30 years. We had even put away the two dog crates and all the paraphernalia. However, once my husband, Don, went online to one of the dog rescue sites, he was sold. They are so cute!
He found rescue sites where the need was great for good homes. Since we would be in St. Louis for a convention that June, the Columbus, Ohio, address of the dogs we found wasn’t too much farther away. We packed up crates, bowls, water and leashes and got our two wonderful pets, Katie and Foxy. They were immediate best friends, playing together much of the time.
