For the last six months, Cabarrus residents Brian Eavens, Mike Sims and Harry Smith have logged hundreds of hours renovating the area’s newest animal adoption facility.
The Humane Society of Concord and Greater Cabarrus County in January purchased the building at 2010 Wilshire Court in Concord to replace its space on Betsy Carpenter Place, which it shares with Cabarrus County Animal Control.
The humane society’s grand opening for the new facility was July 23. The naming rights of the shelter were purchased for 20 years through an anonymous $50,000 donation. Ruth’s Memorial Shelter is named after the benefactor’s mother.
