Maricopa County Animal Care and Control is dropping the price of adopting a dog to $17 for the rest of July after seeing a huge influx of dogs and cats this summer.
The fee covers spay or neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, and a dog license for animals over age three months.
The facility is nearing 1,100 animals and has only about 700 kennels, said Aprille Hollis, a spokeswoman for the agency. Smaller animals are being put two or three to a kennel.
