People crammed the hallways at Lollypop Farm during the animal shelter’s free cat adoption, held Thursday, July 7.
The program was offered in response to the recent influx of cats and kittens, which is common during the summer months. In fact, Lollypop vice president and COO, Gillian Hargrave says the number of homeless felines doubles during the summer months. A record-high 108 cats and kittens were adopted during the event. This summer, about 300 more are waiting be adopted.
It costs between $80 and $135 to adopt a cat or kitten, but for one day only these fees were waived as part of the “Priceless Purrs Adopt-a-thon.”
Each adoption came with free spaying or neutering, health exam and vaccinations.
