West Bank students help homeless pets – NOLA.com

NOLA Strays is the name and the concern of a high school club at Ursuline Academy in New Orleans. The girls in the club help stray and homeless pets in the New Orleans area.

Members of the Ursuline Academy NOLA Strays club volunteer during the school year to help homeless animals at shelters and events, including this Jefferson Parish Shelter dog adoption event in Harvey.

Harvey resident Minnie Shariffsku, 18, was the NOLA Strays club president during the 2010-11 school year. Minnie said she drives around a lot and sees many animals living on city streets. She thought the situation was very sad. She and other concerned Urusline students decided to do something about the situation and formed NOLA Strays during the previous school year.
