The Humane Society of Southern Arizona is as desperate to find homes for its pets as Tucson is for rain.
The HSSA currently has 450 animals awaiting adoption, the group said. In an effort to find homes for the animals while celebrating the anticipated monsoon in the Old Pueblo, the society is offering a special on adoption fees, which will continue until Tucson’s first official rainfall of the season recorded by the National Weather Service.
Dogs and cats will be available for adoption for $10, discounted from $80. Fees for puppies, kittens, purebreds and small dogs, which normally range between $100 to $300, will be reduced by half. A license fee of $15.50 will be added for dogs 3 months and older.
