Spirited event promotes adoption for rescued animals.

Adoption was the only option on Saturday, June 4, when the Mayor’s Alliance for New York City’s Animals hosted its third annual Adoptapalooza in Washington Square Park.

The goal of the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals — a consortium of more than 150 animal rescue groups and shelters — is to transform New York City into a no-kill community by 2015; the Alliance works with Animal Care & Control of NYC to increase pet adoption and spay and neuter rates, and to end the destruction of healthy (and treatable) dogs and cats.

Adoptapalooza featured something for every dog lover — and dog.
