Pet adoption stories: Mickey and the Mazes – Knoxville News Sentinel

After our 14-year old Jack Russell terrier, Mr. Brown, died, we decided to look for another Jack. We had always bought AKC registered dogs, but a friend challenged us to adopt from a shelter. So we started looking on petfinder.com and inquiring about the ones we liked. Several we inquired about were already adopted, but we found Mickey at the Bright Hope Animal Shelter in Greeneville, Tenn.

This animal shelter consists of several big-hearted ladies who go to the local animal control center, where dogs are destroyed if not adopted within 72 hours, and take in as many dogs as they can.
