Friends of the Animal Shelter, a volunteer-based group that donates time to finding suitable families for animals at St. Joseph Animal Control and Rescue, is encouraging cat adoptions throughout the month of June. The volunteer group will pay $10 of a feline’s adoption fee, which averages $65.
In 2010, Friends of the Animal Shelter received 532 felines available for adoption. Although residents adopted 249 cats and 21 were redeemed by proper owners, Animal Control and Rescue ordered 262 cats to be euthanized due to lack of adoption.
