Carolyn Morgan has a slew of animals on her small Fleming farm, including dogs, cats, cows and ducks.
Just a few days ago, she added another pet to the bunch – a four-week-old gray cat she adopted from the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley.
The animal is one of a handful she has adopted from the shelter.
“I just feel bad for them that nobody wants them and whatever happened to them isn’t their fault and I know there’s only so much they can do there (at the shelter) because of money and only so many volunteers,” said Morgan, 47.
May is national pet adoption month, meant to draw attention to animals in shelters that are in need of homes and to inform people about the animal adoption process.
