Woofs and wagging tails helped bring fresh funds to a Manitoba dog rescue over the weekend.
On Saturday, Hull’s Haven Border Collie Rescue brought about 14 dogs — as well as some fundraising baking and silent-auction prizes — to Best West Pet Food on St. James Street for a four-hour adopt-a-thon.
The event also helped recruit foster families for the rescue, which does not maintain a separate shelter.
“(The benefits) are threefold,” said rescue founder Sally Hull, dashing about the store to interview another group of hopeful adopters. “We raise awareness, the dogs find awesome homes, and we get to educate the public about taking proper care of dogs.”
