Pittsburg State University students and the SEK Humane Society gathered on campus Monday to promote pet adoption.
Multiple members of the President’s Emerging Leaders Program prepared dozens of baked goods, including brownies, cookies, cakes and pies, to sell to raise money for the shelter.
“We’re bettering the community,” said freshman Nicole Bishop.
To help their cause, shelter workers and volunteers brought out some of its residents to capture the students attention. Sam, a rat terrier, Vanna, a black lab mix, Athena, a boxer-heeler mix, Pumpkin, a Shihtzu mix and Bella, an 8-week-old chocolate lab, competed for an won the attention of dozens of students.
