Kane shelter takes pet adoption seriously

With nearly 500 animals taken in last year, Kane County Animal Control officials say they take adoption of their charges seriously and carry out a detailed procedure before the four-legged — and sometimes two-legged — orphans go to homes as pets.

The adoption process usually begins with someone either coming in to the animal control shelter on Keslinger Road in Geneva or visiting petfinder.com, a website that Animal Control uses to list what pets are adoptable.
