Local Group Rescues Racing Greyhounds for a Life in Las Vegas

Greyhound Pet Adoption of Las Vegas has found homes for about 100 former racing greyhound in the past couple of years. They are the lucky ones.

Because The Humane Society estimates in an average year 19,000 greyhounds are killed. That number includes more than 7,000 puppies who were farm culls, another 11,000 “retirees” who were not rescued. Plus, the many more who are either sold to research labs, turned into breeding stock, or sent to foreign racetracks.
