While having dinner with my friends Rebeka Bromley of Chattanooga and Dorothy Bowles, we talked about our favorite topic — dogs. I said I missed my miniature schnauzer, Summer, and wanted another dog. Three weeks later, I received an e-mail from Rebeka. Her veterinarian had a dog for adoption. She had been found in a ditch on a cold day trying to nurse her two puppies. She almost starved to death, but the vet saved her. He easily gave away the two puppies, but the mother remained behind. Rebeka offered to adopt her and said that I could have her if I wanted her; if not, she’d keep her. I agreed.
