Ocean County freeholders offer Valentine’s Day idea: pet adoptions (New Jersey)

Looking for a little unconditional love this Valentine’s Day?

Try the Ocean County animal shelters.

For the second year in a row, the Ocean County Board of Freeholders are encouraging all romantics within its jurisdiction — young and old — to consider adopting a pet for their lovers on what is one of the most sentimental dates on the calendar.

The county’s animal shelters in Stafford and Jackson are waiving the $60 adoption fee for dogs and the $55 adoption fee for cats, beginning Saturday through Feb. 20. The waiver covers all animals abandoned by their previous owners, those that have reached old age or animals who have been boarded at the shelter since at least Christmas.
