Dog adoption story: Zip and the Wickards

My husband, Scott, and I moved to Knoxville in 2002. We planned to live in Tellico Village while our home in Rarity Bay was being built. The day we arrived in Tellico Village with the moving van, there was a small, very dirty little dog sitting on our front porch. It looked forlorn and lost. We were reluctant to touch it, but we were sure it must belong to one of our new neighbors and that they were worried sick about its whereabouts. We picked the little thing up and went door to door. This turned out to be a very good thing. We met all our neighbors immediately.
