Snowflake is a happy, healthy cat now, but that was not always the case.
The day she appeared at one of our feeding stations for feral and stray cats, her ear tips were burned off and there were numerous burn marks all over her body, especially on her face. She was treated and spayed at a vet at the expense of our non-profit organization, and the vet told us she had given birth just recently.
We decided to scout the immediate area to see where she could have gotten burned so badly. Sure enough, we found a fire pit of half-burned cardboard boxes at the end of some businesses and a wooded lot. Instead of taking the boxes to the dumpsters, they were just burned outside.
