Adopt a pet at Winter Fest Saturday

Saturday’s seventh annual Groton Winter Fest is set to celebrate mid-winter fun with both outdoor and indoor events for families and children of all ages.

The fun will kick off at 10 a.m. at the Groton Elementary School, 516 Elm St. Dog sled rides, cross-country skiing, the recycled toboggan race and sledding will be accompanied by many indoor activities geared to children, youth and families, along with tasty treats to sweeten the event, which will run through 4 p.m.

One of the focus venues for the day will be an off-site pet adoption center set up by the SPCA of Tompkins County. Cats will be available for adoption. Anyone who comes to Groton Winter Fest with the anticipation of adopting a pet at this event might prepare for the adoption by calling the SPCA at 257-1822or going to in advance for their requirements for adopting a pet.
