I always thought of myself as a one-dog kind of gal. When I found “the one,” I spent the next eight years making sure he knew he was well-loved, leaving me with nothing left to offer other pets.
Then I started volunteering as the vice president of GoodDogz.org, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating potential dog owners on selection and care with a goal to increase the number of successful dog adoptions and decrease the number of dogs in shelters. Every year GoodDogz.org holds two major pet adoption events at Reston Town Center. And every year, I’d meet one or two shelter dogs I would look at wistfully and daydream about being their hero by offering them my home. With more than 40 rescue groups and hundreds of adoptable pets, the events offer hundreds of wonderful dogs and cats who need a home, who just want to give love and be loved.
