Pet adoption story: King and the Riggs family

After the loss of our 12-year-old cat in September, we got a black, scraggly kitten named King from the Monroe County Shelter. After seeing him spit and hiss at grown cats for a place in my lap, we decided the name was appropriate.

King runs full speed, often dragging his “Cat in the Hat” or octopus toys, both of which he has “killed” many times. Looking like a flying squirrel, he jumps from under our bed and wraps around our legs, then jumps back under, over and under again, awaiting another attack.
