The Cat Adoption Team in Sherwood is pleased to announce Dr.
Melinda Barkley, of Wilsonville, is joining our team as the Medical Director of CAT’s in-shelter feline veterinary hospital and spay/neuter clinic.
A graduate of Oregon State University in 1999, Dr. Barkley practiced in Clackamas, West Linn, and Wilsonville. She has been volunteering her services to CAT on and off over the past five years. Dr. Barkley is also certified in Veterinary Acupuncture from Colorado State University.
Being a cat-loving veterinarian in a dog-centric city, Dr. Barkley says coming to CAT is like “coming home.” “Cats are vastly misunderstood – their social, dietary, and medical needs. Most of our medical and surgical knowledge is based on canine and human studies. The Cat Adoption Team is pioneering in shelter medicine and advanced care of cats with special needs,” says Dr. Barkley, who plans to obtain her board certification in feline medicine to stay on the cutting edge of feline medicine.
