Animal sanctuary closer to foreclosure

Goliath and BeBe’s World, the animal sanctuary that houses unadoptable animals and fosters adoptable ones, is in trouble.

Primary benefactor Lydia Cladek is facing federal charges of bilking investors out of more than $100 million, and Bank of America is foreclosing on the 45 acres of property Cladek bought for the shelter in Madison County, said spokeswoman Fran Charlson.

About three-quarters of the 320 horses, cats, dogs and other animals there come from St. Augustine.
