The puppy lost his home, just eight days before Christmas, when fire destroyed the Hazelwood row house where he had lived. He lost his family, too, for his owners said they now had no place for him.
Pittsburgh Animal Control took the puppy to the Animal Rescue League of Western Pennsylvania, where he joined dozens of other homeless animals whose numbers always exceed the number of people who want to adopt a pet from a shelter.
