Calaveras County Animal Services received an early Christmas gift when a Murphys couple brought in a donation that will cover spay and neuter fees when an animal is adopted from the shelter.
John and Michele Rugo visited the Animal Shelter Dec. 20 to drop off a $2,500 donation that will reduce financial barriers for pet adoption from the shelter. According to Animal Services Sgt. Laurie Murray, every animal adopted from the shelter has to be spayed or neutered. Additional fees must be paid for other required procedures.
