Just a week after the Oregon Humane Society reached its milestone 10,000th adoption this year, the number continues to soar and may top 11,000 by year’s end.
“This year we hit the mark sooner than last year,” said spokesman David Lytle. As of Tuesday, the number of abandoned pets adopted was 10,249 – higher than the 10,113 adopted in 2009.
And the number is likely to keep growing.
“December is traditionally a very popular month for adopting a pet,” Lytle said.
