What’s your ‘feline-ality’?

Last weekend, I spent a lovely evening at a colleague’s home. Minutes into the visit, the couples’ cat plunked himself down beside me — this was an odd event, I was told, as he typically avoids new people.

The sweet older feline sat near me, I suspect, to prove his owners wrong. It reminded me of when you take your picky-eater kid to a friend’s house and seconds after you make an excuse for your child’s lack of culinary sophistication, the kid eats everything on her plate. It’s as if she were a contestant on the new show — Survivor Dinner Party Island. There’s only one explanation. Kids and animals enjoy proving us wrong, it’s in their nature to do so.
