New kiosk expands animal shelter’s reach

People interested in adopting a cat or dog no longer have to drive to the Burlington Pet Adoption Center in Haw River to choose their next pet.

There is now a Chameleon Pet Kiosk at the Spay and Neuter Clinic of Alamance County at 1919 S. Church St. in Burlington that allows users to see and read about the animals that are available for adoption at the center. It also gives people who have lost a dog or cat a place to check in the event their pet was taken to the shelter.

“It’s pretty nifty,” said Tamee Penley, Burlington Animal Services supervisor. “Since we are six or seven miles out of town, people can look at this instead of driving to the shelter. Some people don’t like to come to the shelter.”
