Cold Noses: October pet events abound

Does your dog have a bit of spring in his step? Is your cat galloping around the house at an extra-fast clip?

It must be fall!

The gorgeous weather we’re having also means that there are a lot of fun pet events going on this month. Here’s the lineup.

• Every weekend in October, adoptions are half-price at Jacksonville Animal Care and Protective Services. Find out more here.

• Every Saturday in October, the Jacksonville Humane Society will give out treats in the boutique at 8464 Beach Blvd and thrift store at 8328 Beach Blvd. Decorate trick-or-treating bags and masks in Halloween colors and enjoy great specials on adoptions. Find out more here.

• Dogtoberfest takes place tomorrow (Saturday Oct. 9) and benefits First Coast No More Homeless Pets. There are all kinds of components to this, from a 5K to “Doga” classes (that’s yoga with your dog). Yours truly will be judging the dog costume contest, so make sure to stop by and say hello if you’re there. Find out more about the event here.
