Give a Cat a Habitat event finds homes for 40+ kitties

With their cat adoption areas packed with kitties in wait for new homes, Rochester Animal Services took a new approach to their overpopulation problem Saturday morning: Free cats.

“We wanted to do something to really get some of these cats out of here quickly,” said Chris Fitzgerald, the city’s director of Animal Services.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the shelter gave away all 42 cats that were available for adoption, said assistant shelter manager Pam Cook.

“It was a great success, and we would like to sincerely thank all of the adopters,” she said.
