A local animal shelter took advantage of its 5th birthday to hold an adoption party aimed at putting as many of its sheltered animals into loving homes as possible.
Miami-Dade Animal Services celebrated its fifth birthday today. Five years ago Sunday it became an independent department, and this year the staff had just one birthday wish: to save the lives animals who deserve loving homes.
“We hope to have hundreds of people here today to adopt one of the many hundreds of shelter pets here at animal services right now waiting for a home,” said Dr. Sara Pizano, shelter director.
The event included food, goody bags, even “pup cakes.”
