Four different pet adoption events set

The Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley will conduct four pet adoption events beginning Saturday.

Adoption fees are $75 for dogs and $50 for cats, which includes the first set of vaccinations, alteration and microchip.

Dog, puppy, cat and kitten adoptions will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Farmer’s Market in downtown Las Cruces and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at PetCo, 3050 E. Lohman. On Sunday, adoptions are set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at City Play Day in Young Park.

And, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, adoptions are scheduled on the north lawn of the Do-a Ana County Government Center as part of World Rabies Awareness Day. That event also will feature free rabies shots to residents who can show proof of government assistance and $5 rabies shots for all others. The event also will feature a pet-food drive and vouchers for low-cost spay/neuter operations.
