The city of Albuquerque’s Lucky Paws pet adoption store in Coronado Mall will stay open.
That’s the word today from the city of Albuquerque.
The city’s Animal Welfare Department said in a news release the store had been slated for closure under the fiscal year 2011 budget in order to open the new spay/neuter clinic at the Eastside Shelter. But the department said that through a cooperative agreement with Coronado Mall management, the pet adoption store will remain open for the foreseeable future.
Department spokesman Rick De Reyes said in a telephone interview that the city is getting a break on the rent from Coronado Mall, although he said he could not specify how much.
