Comedy night raises $48,700 for Riverside pet adoption center

The Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center raised $48,700 at its 13th annual Comedy Night fundraiser attended by more than 300 supporters. The evening included a cocktail reception, silent auction, sales of raffle tickets, center memberships, calendars featuring animal residents past and present, and entertainment by two comedians.

Guests were greeted at the door of the Riverside Convention Center by some of the dogs awaiting adoption. During the reception, guests bid on a vast array of silent auction items donated by area businesses and individuals such as as KFRG 95.1’s “Midday Diva” Heather Froglear. Froglear was emcee for the evening. .

“The evening was a huge success. We’re so grateful to everyone who attended,” said Denise Perry, the center’s executive director. “Our friends and supporters were treated to great food and entertainment. The homeless animals in our care benefited most of all thanks to everyone.”
