ITHACA (WENY) — Pet adoption is a big step for many families. But if you’re strapped for time or cash, and still want to care for a pet, you could try being a foster home.
The Tompkins County SPCA wants to get the word out to people who’ve been interested in wanting to open up their homes but just weren’t able to.
When the shelter runs out of space or if an animal has special needs, the SPCA relies on foster volunteers for help.
Being a foster family means finding a pet that can work with your lifestyle.
And there are all sorts of pets who need care — from kittens who need to be bottle fed several times a day — to dogs who simply need a quiet place after a surgery.
