Humane Society Buys Land for New Shelter

The Benton-Franklin Humane Society has purchased about 4 acres of property from the Port of Kennewick for its new no-kill shelter.Operations manager Ed Dawson announced the property purchase today at the Kennewick shelter.

Port commissioners approved the sale Tuesday, Dawson said.The land, which is on the eastern edge of the city, was bought for $175,000, Dawson said.”It's a big day for the Benton-Franklin Humane Society,” Dawson said. “We're clearing the first major hurdle in the project to build a new no-kill shelter.”
