Continue reading »]]> Friends, we have an urgent situation on our paws and need your help.  Please pass this on to everyone you know that might be able to help them.  Ginger and Baby Doll are in need of an IMMEDIATE home.  They currently are in Dacula, GA where there Mom has Alzheimers and can no longer care for them since she is now in a nursing home.  The woman’s daughter, highly allergic to cats, and has dogs, has been trying to find a place for them.   No luck.  Her plan, if you can even call it a plan, is to bring them back to Easly, SC and just put them outside with some food and water.

Since they are not outside cats, needless to say, that plan stinks.

Meet Ginger…

Ginger is 10+ years old, is very sweet and is mostly a lap cat.

Meet Baby Doll…

Baby Doll is a tabby around 5 years old. She would do better in a home where she is the only pet.  She has not been very happy since Ginger moved in with them.  Baby doll also does not do well around small children.

Both Ginger and Baby Doll have been spayed and as far as we know are current on their shots.

Hi, I’m Katie. I am a sweet girl. I need someone that will love me and give me lots of attention. I had a hard beginning. I was on the put to sleep list at Greenville County Animal Control and was rescued. I was brought to a vet to be spayed and was injected with fluid that was contaminated and it burned under my skin. I was treated by the FUR of the Upstate director and have since healed. Because of my time having to be kept in a cage so I wouldn’t hurt my prior wounds, I have gained quite a few unnecessary pounds. Continue reading »]]> A new $4 million, no-kill pet center, years in the making, will open in the Harbison area this month.

It’s welcome news for animal advocates, considering the problem of unwanted and abandoned pets in Richland and Lexington counties.

“There were 21,000 homeless pets in the Midlands last year and over 18,000 were euthanized,” said Denise Wilkinson, chief executive officer of the nonprofit Pawmetto Lifeline, whose organization will run the facility.

Pawmetto Lifeline expects their new no kill pet center, a two-story, 27,000 square foot facility on Bower Parkway to be completed by Jan. 25

Magnum Drywall’s George Best uses a lazer to get measurements in order to build a knee wall in the activity center at the new no-kill shelter, Pawmetto Lifeline. The activity room is where dogs will be able to interact with potential owners. Richland and Lexington counties contributed $1.5 million each to help build the facility, Wilkinson said.

Lexington County also donated the 7.5-acre site off Bower Parkway for the facility, which is scheduled to open Jan. 25. The center will lease the land at $1 a year for 20 years.

Stafford is a big baby with lots of love to give. He was rescued out of a storm drain and has been at the shelter for a long time. He is a bit shy…but loves belly rubs once he gets to know you.
