Continue reading »]]> A new partnership between the Kent County SPCA and the nonprofit PetSmart Charities Inc. could help save as many as 1,300 dogs and cats a year in Dover with the new pet-adoption center inside the PetSmart store in Dover.

The pet-adoption center opened with a grand opening celebration on Saturday at the PetSmart store located at 1390 N. DuPont Highway, however, they’ve had a soft-opening for the past six weeks that has already seen roughly 140 cats and dogs get adopted.

Continue reading »]]> The next time you are shopping for presents, take some time to notice the volunteers helping wrap gifts; they're there for a cause.

This holiday season, supporters of the Safe Haven Animal Shelter in Georgetown will be at Tanger Outlets in Rehoboth Beach helping to wrap presents to support the only no-kill shelter in the county.

And this year, they may want your attention more than your money.

“It's one of our most successful campaigns because it gets our name out there and lets people know what we're doing,” said Safe Haven Board Director Hal Dukes. “It really raises awareness.”
