Over the weekend, CLAWS Cat Rescue and Adoption Shelter held an emergency fundraiser in hopes of adopting out many of their cats and kittens and also collecting monetary and material donations.
They managed to get 35 cats adopted this way, said Laurie Walsh, the shelter
Maxie is in serious trouble. All because he had his teeth cleaned. His esophagus was badly burned — yeah, we’re wondering how this happened too! — and his mom has wracked up a huge vet bill — with a different vet — trying to save him.
Maxie is still with us. The vet needs $6000 to perform surgery that could cure him. Mom Laura is already in debt several thousand. She has contacted IMOM and all the usual for help, but does not qualify. She desperately needs a loan.
She also has a donate button on the sidebar of her blog Here.
URGENT Greenville, SC: TRANSPORT AVAILABLE
Here is an email we got from our good friend Jenna. Jenna is the wonderful person who saved Dolly and made it possible for her to become a member of our family. Please tell everyone you know.
Don’t know how I am getting into the kitty business but this one is really breaking my heart.
These babies will be going to the shelter if we cannot save them. They were found alongside a dead mama 9 months ago. They have been going to Petsmart every Saturday for adoption with the people who found them and no takers. They suffer terribly being put into carriers and taken the 45 minute drive to Petsmart where they are put into a tiny cage for people to look at. They absolutely become depressed since they have been doing this for seven months. I also ran a picture with a write-up in the Greenville News Newspaper trying to help these people and not a single phone call. They are at the point where they will have to take them to the shelter and there most likely be put to sleep. They just cannot keep them and I don’t know what else to do to help them. They have really tried everything.
They would pay for transport to anywhere and these kitties are fully vetted, checked for FIV, FeLeuk, which was negative, all shots, and spayed and neutered. The male is a total lap kitty and female is a little more stand-off-ish but once you sit down and have the male on your lap then she comes and sits next to you.
Thank you for anything you might do to help,
Help us make a difference for a horse that deserves it
These folks have rescued an abused former race horse who has been starved and is in need of feed, veterinary care and a pasture shelter, since one of her many problems is rain-rot. (from being left out with no shelter)
She has a sweet disposition but you can see the pain in her eyes. Her feet are badly cracked and one has been cut. We’re not sure how it happened, but it needs to be addressed. Corrective shoes can help, but they are expensive and have to be replaced about every six weeks.
We know a lot of people are struggling out there, but we also know that a little bit from people who care can go a long way. This mare didn’t ask to be starved and abused, and she deserves more than what she got from her last owner.
They have successfully rehabilitated other abused horses and know we can do it again – with a little help from those who know that we can’t save them all, but we can make a difference – one horse at a time.

Many thanks for anything you can do, remember, every dollar makes a difference. Thanks my friends.
A very good twitter friend of mine, @FelineUnit , passed on a message to me from another special twitter friend @ForeverGinger . This message has to do with some very sad new with the @PeroDaCat family. Unfortunately we have a limited amount of time.
Here is the original post and the ChipIn widget. Thank you so much for anything you can do to help, remember, every dollar makes a difference!
@PeroDaCat
Hello friends,
As many of you know, @PeroDaCat and his 3 feline siblings are in need of a new home. PeroDaCat’s mom is going to be moving into a nursing home sometime in March and she is trying to find homes for her feline children. As you can imagine she is extremely sad and concerned about the fate of her cats.
This fund is being set up to help with any costs that may be incurred in relocating PeroDaCat and his family to another state if needed. If for some reason no costs are incurred or money remains in this fund, I will contact the contributors and ask for input on where the money should be donated.
Please know that any donation will be greatly appreciated. I am always amazed by the generosity and kindness of the friends I have made on Twitter. It is my hope that we can find a home for the family of PeroDaCat and that none of us ever face this situation in our lives.
Sincerely, @ForeverGinger

I know, I know, kill shelter is an oxymoron, that term is used here to illustrate a point. Michelin North America has their U.S. headquarters in South Carolina. Many employees there have been taking care of the strays and the feral cats for years. No longer. Employees at the facility in South Carolina have been told, in part:
So what does this say about the corporate responsibility of Michelin anyways? Yep, you got it!
Need tires, buy something else, but don’t support Michelin if this is how they treat the less fortunate among us. Tell them that you will not buy their brand unless they do the right thing!
CALL TO ACTION: Email the Michelin Corporate folks and tell them just what you think of their corporate image. You can email them here:
Hello friends, I sent this out on Twitter a few days back, but one of our friends is having a rough time so some of her friends got together and are hosting an auction to help with the medical bills. If you find it in your heart to help, please click on the picture for the information. Thanks so much!
