Super Cat Adoption Day, Muskingum County Ohio

Some locals are adding a new member to their family.

The Animal Shelter in Muskingum County hosted it’s first ever Super CatĀ Adoption Day. All kittens and cats were available to purchase for only $10. The shelter was hoping the discount would entice families to step forward to adopt a pet.

“They have a good deal today and we figured if we get one we might even get two, that way it helps the shelter out and the kitties out,” said David Fereriks.

“To help a little kitty in need, or a cat, so it’s really great to help save a life,” said Lisa Ehrnfield.

Cat adoption day finds homes for 51 felines

ZANESVILLE, OHIO — Placing a yellow adopted tag on his cage, Linda Ehrnfield opened the cage door and picked up the grey and white kitten that would become the family’s new “furever” pet.

The young kitten was just one of the 51 felines that found homes Saturday during the “Super Cat Adoption” Day at the Muskingum County Animal Shelter Inc. on Newark Road. A special fee of $10 was charged for any feline, and included spaying or neutering, vaccinations, FIV and leukemia test, worming and a HomeAgain Microchip Larry Hostetler, director, said.

“You’re saving not only the life of a kitty but you’re getting a $40 savings,” Ehrnfield said. “It’s a real good opportunity to adopt a cat today with all the incentives,” Ehrnfield said.

Ehrnfield was not able to take the kitten home with her because it needed neutered before leaving the shelter. She will use the time to prepare for the kittens arrival. The kitten will have four children who will be playing with it.

“That’ll give me a few days to get the things (cat supplies) together. He’s a cute kitty but we’ll let the kids name him,” she said.

COSHOCTON — The Friends of the Animal Shelter Pet Adoption Center adopted out its 100th dog recently. The black Labrador mix breed wasn’t at the center long, about a week, before he found a new home.

“He’s adorable,” said Kathy Spizzirri, whose family adopted the 13-week-old puppy and named him Bozley.
