I am still in foster care because I have a scar one of my eyes. The veterinarian said I am fine and the scar will not cause any problems. I am very active. They told me I am two years old, but I think I am still a kitten. I am very social. I like to be with other cats and love to be with people. I like to lay in peoples laps and rub up against them. The Animal Shelter in Muskingum County hosted it’s first ever Super Cat Adoption Day. All kittens and cats were available to purchase for only $10. The shelter was hoping the discount would entice families to step forward to adopt a pet.

“They have a good deal today and we figured if we get one we might even get two, that way it helps the shelter out and the kitties out,” said David Fereriks.

“To help a little kitty in need, or a cat, so it’s really great to help save a life,” said Lisa Ehrnfield.

The young kitten was just one of the 51 felines that found homes Saturday during the “Super Cat Adoption” Day at the Muskingum County Animal Shelter Inc. on Newark Road. A special fee of $10 was charged for any feline, and included spaying or neutering, vaccinations, FIV and leukemia test, worming and a HomeAgain Microchip Larry Hostetler, director, said.

“You’re saving not only the life of a kitty but you’re getting a $40 savings,” Ehrnfield said. “It’s a real good opportunity to adopt a cat today with all the incentives,” Ehrnfield said.

Ehrnfield was not able to take the kitten home with her because it needed neutered before leaving the shelter. She will use the time to prepare for the kittens arrival. The kitten will have four children who will be playing with it.

“That’ll give me a few days to get the things (cat supplies) together. He’s a cute kitty but we’ll let the kids name him,” she said.

A 4-month-old dachshund-spaniel puppy wriggled and licked a Riverside County animal control worker in the next back-row seat.

The dogs were soon called up to the front of the chamber by Mayor Pro Tem Dana Hobart, who solicited kisses from them as he told the audience the city will cover the fees for any resident who adopts from the Riverside County Department of Animal Services’ Thousand Palms shelter.

Due to overcrowding at the shelter, the dogs could be euthanized within the week if they were not adopted, he said,

“That’s the third or fourth time I’ve done that,” Hobart said Friday.

“I have them bring a couple of dogs in, and if they don’t get adopted, I don’t really want to know about it.”

Rancho Mirage has paid for the adoption of 49 pets since May 2009, according to the city.

Sasha was found laying in the same location she was spotted 16 hours prior to her rescue. She had been hit by a car and was so emaciated, week and in pain that she could not move. She is much better now and spunky as she can be. We are hoping for a wonderful home that will let her be in the house . She prefers to be inside with her human…but does like to go for walks. Sasha loves treats and bones and will do just about anything for one. She is playful and smiling all the time. Sasha does fine with other dogs after getting to know them and is crate trained. She chases squirrels, so probably would not do well with cats. She is a mild mannered dog that just wants to lay by your feet and be loved.

The center at 28095 Hillcrest, which also serves Aliso Viejo and Laguna Niguel, has extended its August cat adoption promotion through Sept. 17.

The fee covers each cat’s vaccination and microchip.
