The city’s Animal Welfare Department is hosting its Twilight Pet Adoption from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Eastside and Westside shelters. On hand at the Eastside shelter from 6 to 7 p.m. will be Motzie, the world’s tallest cat, according to a city press release. On Saturday Motzie will attempt to enter the Guinness Book of World Records.
Adoptions at the event will include spray or neuter, microchipping, vaccinations, and a free gift from Petco and Groomingdale’s Pet Spa. Adoption fees will be reduced to half at the event.
Official judging of Motzie, a second-generation Savannah cat, will be at the N.M. Expo Cat Show on Saturday. The current world record for the tallest cat is 19 inches.
