Saturday was the start of a Super Pet Dog and Cat Adoption Event in Union Gap.
The weekend event is taking place in the parking lot of PetSmart from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Over 250 dogs and cats from all over the state are up for adoption.
Pawsitive Alliance and PetSmart Charities worked together to bring animals from multiple shelters.
A spokesperson for PetSmart Charities said they want to find homes for over 200 homeless dogs and cats by the end of the weekend.
“We’re absolutely thrilled so far,” said Heather Herrera, a volunteer for PetSmart Charities. “We’re less than halfway through the first day and we’re at about 43 adoptions, so we’re on track to hit our goal and save a couple hundred animals this weekend.”
Herrera said more dogs will be coming from Spokane Sunday.
