Do you have $5? How about a little love in your heart to give to a homeless kitten?
Both of those things go together perfectly if you’d like to adopt Tony this month from the Dearborn Animal Shelter.
Tony is still a kitten, but because he is five months old, he is considered to be an adult. This is good news for anyone looking to adopt, because through July 31, the shelter is discounting cat adoption rates from $25 to $5.
If someone doesn’t take Tony–an adorable brown mackerel tabby–home before then, he will be available for a $25 adoption fee starting in August. But one look at his sweet face should tell you that it’s unlikely he’ll be homeless that long.
Adoption fees include a basic medical exam, behavior assessment, age-appropriate vaccinations, parasite and worm check, spay or neuter, microchip ID, travel box, cat comforter and cat care information. An optional, but recommended, combination feline AIDS and feline leukemia test (for cats 12 weeks and older) is an additional $20.
Adopters are also eligible for pet insurance from PetFirst HealthCare at an introductory price of $5 for the first month. The price includes accident and illness coverage with any veterinarian. Adopters must register their pet within 20 days of adoption by calling 866-937-PETS, or visiting www.petfirstadoption.com.
