Montreal, Canada, Sophie Fournier founder of Sophie’s dog adoption and the Mc Gill’s legal team will be in court tomorrow taking on the city of Montreal in a class action lawsuit to save the life of Wicca and end the breed specific legislation (BSL).
Wicca a 5 year old spayed American Staffordshire that made headlines due to the discrimination and unconstitutional treatment her case has received from the city of Montreal over an alleged bite or scratch that has yet to be determined in court.
Wicca’s owner was automatically served with a death order under old BSL bylaws, when the proper way is to serve the owner with a 90 day muzzle order and require that that the dog be evaluated until further notice.
The Mc Gill’s legal team is handling Wicca’s appeal that will be heard July 25th and the entire subject of BSL and the questionable ways the city of Montreal applies these laws and by-laws as it pleases, even when the dogs do not live in a BSL area.
