The Orange County Animal Shelter is celebrating the success of Adopt-a-cat Month, which took place in June.
Orange County Animal Services shelter manager Jess Allison says 108 cats and kittens found permanent homes last month.
“It was fabulous,” she says. “Actually it was a record breaking adopt a cat month. We set records for both the number of cats that were adopted as well as the total number of animals adopted out in June.”
Allison says 59 dogs also found forever homes. That brings the grand total to 242 animals, not just cats and dogs, adopted, transferred to a rescue or reclaimed by their owners.
Adopt-a-cat month offered deep discounts to people interested in taking home a cat. Adoption fees were reduced from $95 to $50, and included spaying or neutering, vaccines, de-worming and flee treatment.
